Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat and Etisalat Afghanistan sign Mobile Bill payments partnership

Kabul, Afghanistan March 28, 2012 - Etisalat Afghanistan, the fastest growing cellular operator in Afghanistan and Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat today announced a partnership that will allow DABS’ customers in Kabul, to pay their electricity bills through Etisalat’s Mobile Payments system.

The service will bring about enhanced convenience as it will greatly ease bill payments for
Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat’s 300,000 customers in Kabul, by enabling customers to pay their bills using their mobile phones.

Speaking during the launch of the service in Kabul, Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat CEO,
Mr Samadi said “the company is constantly seeking innovative solutions that bring value to the lives of DABS customers”.

Etisalat Afghanistan Chief Commercial Officer- Enterprise, Dr Ali Asgharzadeh said
“convenience is a major component of our bill payment proposition. Through this partnership with Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat, we are harnessing our Mobile Money infrastructure to give DABS customers, wherever they are in Afghanistan, an additional avenue of paying their bills. We hope this will bring more convenience and free up capacity on existing bill payment options. The service aims to save time, and is both simple to use and always available - anywhere, anytime. Our ultimate goal is to allow all Afghans access to basic and advanced services by leveraging on Etisalat Afghanistan’s world class national infrastructure.”

Currently, Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat customers have the option of making their bill payments at DABS offices or various Bank branches. The partnership will allow customers to pay their bills at Etisalat shops or authorised Etisalat distributors. In addition, customers will be able to pay using their mobile phones which allows customers to access the service on a 24-hour basis, thus providing flexibility and convenience to customers.
