Kabul, Dec 13, 2011: The National Cricket team of Afghanistan was given a champions welcome today by Etisalat Afghanistan and Afghanistan Cricket Board on their arrival back home after winning the Asian Cricket Council, ACC Twenty20 Cup in Nepal.

A large audience of enthusiastic cricket fans gathered at Kabul International Airport to celebrate the return of Nawroz Mangal, Captain and victorious team after their brilliant performance in Nepal. The National Cricket team led by Nawroz Mangal reached the final by beating the home side Nepal and secured the title by defeating Hong Kong cricket team in the final match.

Etisalat Afghanistan is the official partner of Afghanistan Cricket Board. Officials of Etisalat Afghanistan and ACB were present at the airport to receive the winning team.

Shahzada Masood, Vice Chairman Afghanistan Cricket Board while commenting on the occasion said, “We are proud of our national heroes and their consistent performances while representing Afghanistan on the world stage. The players played like a team and lived up to their status of being favorites to win the Asian title. I would like to thank Etisalat Afghanistan for their continuous support and the ACB team for their efforts to provide necessary opportunities to develop for future.”

Recently Afghanistan National Cricket team has been ranked among the top ten cricket playing nations.

Nawroz Mangal, the Captain of National cricket team briefed the media and fans about their experience of achieving this victory in Nepal through brilliant performance in batting, bowling and fielding departments. The captain and players of national team also thanked Etisalat and supporters of Afghan cricket for organizing the welcome party and showing their affection towards the cricket team.
